Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) attended the marriage of one of his Companions and said: "Hold fast to harmony and affection, a good omen and abundance in provision; may Allah bless you. Beat the duff over it." The narrator says: A duff was brought, and plates containing fruit and sugar were brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Snatch them up." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Did you not forbid us from snatching? He said: "I forbade you from the plundering of soldiers, not at weddings." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself pulled from it too, and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) also snatched.
Its chain contains unknown narrators and a break, and it has also been narrated through another unknown chain from Urwah, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), from Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). Nothing in this chapter is established, and Allah knows best.
