Sa'id bin Jubayr said: I said to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): What have you done? The riders have gone off with your fatwa, and the poets have spoken about it. He said: What have the poets said? He said: The poets say:
"I said to the Shaykh when the gathering grew long: O caller, is there something for you in the fatwa of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)?"
"O crier, is there for you a fair, delicate woman, so that you may take lodging with her until the people move on?"
(b) Abu Khalid narrates from al-Minhal: I said to the Shaykh when the gathering grew long; and in the second verse he said: Have you permitted a young woman who is a close relative? Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: That was never my intention, nor did I give a fatwa for mut'ah. Mut'ah is lawful only for one who is compelled; its status is that of carrion, blood and the flesh of swine.
