أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ، ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، أَنَّ هَانِئَ بْنَ قَبِيصَةَ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَنَزَلَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَوْفٍ وَتَحْتَهُ أَرْبَعُ نِسْوَةٍ نَصْرَانِيَّاتٍ، فَأَسْلَمَ، وَأَقَرَّهُنَّ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ مَعَهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: وَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ بَعْضَ بَنِي شَيْبَانَ فَقَالَ: قَدِ اخْتُلِفَ عَلَيْنَا فِيهِ.
Hani bin Qabisah came to Madinah and stayed with Ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), and he had four Christian wives. He accepted Islam, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kept those women in his marriage. Shu'bah said: I asked some of Banu Shayban about it, and they said: There is disagreement about it.
