أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ الْقَاضِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلٍ، أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ، ثنا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكَاتِ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَّ} [البقرة: ٢٢١]، " نُسِخَتْ وَأُحِلَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكَاتِ نِسَاءُ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "And do not marry polytheist women until they believe" [Surah al-Baqarah: 221]: This was abrogated, and the polytheist women of the People of the Book were made permissible.
