Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet, said: Al-Dahhak bin Sufyan, a man of Banu Abi Bakr bin Kilab, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was listening from behind the curtain. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you have an inclination towards the sister of Umm Shabib? Umm Shabib was the wife of al-Dahhak. In the narration of Ya'qub: al-Dahhak bin Sufyan told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about her; and the rest was mentioned likewise. Imam al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married a woman of the tribe of Amr bin Kilab, the brothers of Abu Bakr bin Kilab; then he saw some whiteness in her (hair), so he divorced her, and he did not consummate the marriage with her. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married the sister of Banu al-Jawn al-Kindi, who were allies of Banu Fazarah. She sought refuge in Allah from him (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have sought refuge with One who is very Great; go back to your family." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) divorced her and did not consummate the marriage with her. He also had a Coptic slave-woman named Mariyah; she bore him a son, Ibrahim, who passed away while still in the cradle. He also had a slave-girl named Rayhanah bint Sham'un, from the People of the Book, of Banu Khanaqah, a branch of Banu Qurayzah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set her free, and some claim that she was kept veiled.
