Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a message to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asking him for her inheritance from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), from what Allah had granted him (in Madinah), the orchard of Fadak and what remained of the one-fifth (khumus) of Khaybar. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We do not leave inheritance; whatever we leave is charity (sadaqah)." The family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) only eat from this wealth. By Allah, I will not change anything of the charity of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the state it was in during his (peace and blessings be upon him) time, and I will certainly deal with it as he (peace and blessings be upon him) dealt with it.
