Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was commanded to give his wives the choice, he (peace and blessings be upon him) began with me and said: "O Aishah! I am going to tell you something; you must not be hasty, until you have consulted your parents." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I knew that my parents would never tell me to separate from him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a gracious release. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter, then Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward." [Surah al-Ahzab: 28-29] Then Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Should I consult my parents about this? I desire Allah, His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter. Then all his wives said what I had said.
