أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكَعْبِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، أنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْهَبِ، ثنا خُلَيْدٌ الْعَصَرِيُّ، عَنِ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، فَمَرَّ أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: " بَشِّرِ الْكَنَّازِينَ بِكَيٍّ فِي ظُهُورِهِمْ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ جُنُوبِهِمْ، وَبِكَيٍّ مِنْ قِبَلِ أَقْفِيَتِهِمْ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ جِبَاهِهِمْ " قَالَ: ثُمَّ تَنَحَّى فَقَعَدَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ، فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ: مَا شَيْءٌ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ قَبْلُ؟ قَالَ: مَا قُلْتُ إِلَّا شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ نَبِيِّهِمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَا تَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْعَطَاءِ؟ قَالَ: " خُذْهُ؛ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ الْيَوْمَ مَعُونَةً، فَإِذَا كَانَ ثَمَنًا لِدِينِكَ فَدَعْهُ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ بْنِ فَرُّوخَ، وَهُوَ فِي الْعَطَاءِ مَوْقُوفٌ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ مَرْفُوعًا.
Ahnaf bin Qays (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was among a group of Quraysh when Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by, saying: "Give the hoarders of treasure the glad tidings of a branding which will be placed on their backs and come out of their sides, and which will be placed on the napes of their necks and come out of their foreheads." Then he went aside and sat down. I said: Who is this? They said: This is Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him). I got up, went to him and said to him: What was it that I just heard you saying? He said: I was only saying what I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: What do you say about this stipend? He said: Keep taking it, for there is help in it; then when it becomes the price of your religion, leave it.
