Muhammad bin Sahl (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) moved to al-Shiqq (in Khaybar), a man of the Jews came out and called out: Who will come out to fight? Abu Dujanah (may Allah be pleased with him) came out against him. He had tied a red band around his head over his helmet, and there was a proud swagger in his walk. Abu Dujanah (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him and cut off his legs, then finished him off, and brought his belongings, his coat of mail and his sword, to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them to him.
This report and the one before it are munqati' (with a broken chain), and the connected hadiths suffice (on this matter).
