أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: " أَوَّلُ مَا تَفْقِدُونَ مِنْ دِينِكُمُ الْأَمَانَةُ، وَآخِرُ مَا تَفْقِدُونَ الصَّلَاةُ، وَسَيُصَلِّي أَقْوَامٌ لَا دِينَ لَهُمْ ".
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The first thing of your religion that you find missing is the trust, and the last thing that you lose is the prayer, and soon people will pray yet have no religion. And Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), speaking about the Hijrah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to remain in Makkah until he had returned the trusts that people had left with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
