أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ مَطَرٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ شُمَيْسَةَ قَالَتْ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا عَنْ أَدَبِ الْيَتِيمِ، قَالَتْ: " إِنِّي لَأَضْرِبُ أَحَدَهُمْ حَتَّى يَنْبَسِطَ ".
Shumaysah said: I asked Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) about disciplining an orphan, and she said: I strike one of them until he becomes cheerful.
