أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ، أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ، فَحَضَرَتْ أُمَّ سَعْدٍ الْوَفَاةُ، فَقِيلَ لَهَا: أَوْصِي، فَقَالَتْ: فِيمَ أُوصِي؟ إِنَّمَا الْمَالُ مَالُ سَعْدٍ، فَمَاتَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْدَمَ سَعْدٌ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ سَعْدٌ فَخُبِّرَ بِالَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ شَأْنِ أُمِّهِ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ شَأْنِ أُمِّهِ، وَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيَنْفَعُهَا أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " نَعَمْ "، فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ: حَائِطُ كَذَا وَكَذَا، سَمَّاهُ، صَدَقَةٌ عَنْهَا.
Sa'id bin Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on one of his military expeditions when the time of death came to his mother. It was said to her: Make a bequest. She said: What should I bequeath? The wealth is Sa'd's. She died before Sa'd returned. When Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) came, he was told what had happened concerning his mother. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about his mother, and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! If I give charity on her behalf, will it benefit her? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Such-and-such is charity, and he named it.
