وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ قَتَادَةَ، أنا أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ لَهَا رَجُلٌ: إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُوصِيَ، قَالَتْ: " كَمْ مَالُكَ؟ " قَالَ: ثَلَاثَةُ آلَافٍ، قَالَتْ: " كَمْ عِيَالُكَ؟ " قَالَ: أَرْبَعَةٌ، فَقَالَتْ: " قَالَ اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ {إِنْ تَرَكَ خَيْرًا} [البقرة: ١٨٠]، وَإِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ يَسِيرٌ، فَاتْرُكْهُ لِعِيَالِكَ؛ فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ ".
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man said to her: I intend to make a bequest. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: How much wealth do you have? He said: Three thousand. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: How large is your family? He said: Four people. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Allah says: "If he leaves behind wealth" [Surah al-Baqarah: 180], and this is only a small amount. Leave it for your family; that is better.
