It is reported from Ibrahim and al-Sha'bi that for a full sister, a paternal sister and a grandfather (jadd), according to the view of Sayyiduna Ali and Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), the full sister gets a half, the paternal sister a sixth (completing the two thirds), and the remainder goes to the grandfather. According to the view of Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), the two sisters get a half and the grandfather also a half, and the paternal sister's share is returned to the full sister.
A full sister, two paternal sisters and a grandfather: in the view of Sayyiduna Ali and Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), the full sister gets a half, the paternal sisters a sixth (completing the two thirds) and the remainder goes to the grandfather; if the paternal sisters are more than two, they are not given more than this. According to the view of Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandfather gets two fifths and the sisters one share each out of five; then the two paternal sisters return (shares) to the full sister until she completes a half, and the excess is theirs. If there are three or four paternal sisters with a full sister and a grandfather, the grandfather's portion is not reduced below a third at all; the full sister gets a half and the remainder is divided among the paternal sisters. A full sister, a paternal brother and a grandfather: according to the view of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), the full sister gets a half and the remaining half is divided equally between the brother and the grandfather. According to the view of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandfather gets a half and the full sister a half, and the brother is disregarded and given nothing. In the view of Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), out of ten shares, four go to the grandfather, four to the brother and two to the sister; then the brother returns three shares to the sister so that she completes a half, and the one remaining share is his. According to the view of Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), out of eighteen shares, the grandfather gets six shares (a third), the brother six shares, and each of the two sisters three shares; then the paternal brother and sister return (shares) to the full sister until she completes a half, that is nine shares, and the remaining three shares are for the two of them.
