قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ: وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عِيسَى، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ حَيَّانَ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ غَفَلَةَ فَأُتِيَ فِي ابْنَةٍ وَامْرَأَةٍ وَمَوْلًى، فَقَالَ: كَانَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " يُعْطِي الِابْنَةَ النِّصْفَ، وَالْمَرْأَةَ الثُّمُنَ، وَيَرُدُّ مَا بَقِيَ عَلَى الِابْنَةِ ".
Hayyan al-Ju'fi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was with Suwayd bin Ghafalah (may Allah have mercy on him) when (the case of) a daughter, a wife and a mawla was brought to him. Suwayd (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the daughter half and the wife an eighth, and gave the rest to the daughter as well.
