Bayhaqi 12181 — Encouragement to learn the laws of inheritance

Abu Ubaydah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that he said: Whoever learns the Qur'an should also learn the science of fara'id (inheritance), and let him not be like the man whom someone meets and says: O emigrant! Do you recite the Qur'an? If he answers: Yes, he says: A man of our household has died, so divide his inheritance. If he does it, then that is knowledge he has learned and an increase which Allah has given him; otherwise he will say: O company of emigrants! What superiority do you have over us?
