أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ، فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ وَيُنَصِّرَانِهِ، كَمَا تَنَاتَجُ الْإِبِلُ مِنْ بَهِيمَةٍ جَمْعَاءَ، هَلْ تُحِسُّ فِيهَا مِنْ جَدْعَاءَ؟ " قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولُ اللهِ، أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنْ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ صَغِيرٌ؟ قَالَ: " اللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every child is born upon the fitrah (natural disposition); then his parents make him a Jew or make him a Christian, just as a camel gives birth to a sound young one. Have you ever seen one with its ear cut off?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What do you say about one who dies while still young?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty knows best what they would have done."
