It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a stray sheep, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." He was asked about a camel, and his (peace and blessings be upon him) face turned red and he became angry. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It has its water supply and its hooves with it; it can drink water and eat the leaves of trees." He was asked about (found) money, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Announce it for a year. If its owner comes, give it to him; otherwise, recognise its tie and its container well and then add it to your own wealth; if its owner comes, give it to him."
