Bayhaqi 11795 — Granting dead land

It is reported from Musa bin Talhah that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) granted estates to five Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): al-Zubayr, Sa'd bin Malik, Ibn Mas'ud, Khabbab and Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them). Then I saw that Sa'd and Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave out their lands for a third.
