Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The example of the Muslims, the Jews and the Christians is like that of a man who hired some labourers to work from morning until night for a fixed wage. They worked until midday, then said: 'We have no need of your wage that you stipulated, and what we have worked is void.' He said to them: 'Do not do this; work the rest of the day, then take your full wage.' But they refused and left it. He hired other people and said: 'Work the rest of the day, and you will have what I stipulated.' So they worked until the time of Asr, then said: 'What we have worked is void, and the wage you fixed for us is yours; we have no need of it.' He said to them: 'Work the rest of the day; only a little of the day remains, and take your wage.' They refused. The man hired another group, and they worked the rest of the day until, when Maghrib came, they took in full the wage of the first two groups. This is the example of the Jews and Christians, who abandoned what Allah had commanded them, and the example of the Muslims, who accepted the guidance of Allah and what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) brought."
