Bayhaqi 11274 — Reports on selling a bankrupt free man for his debt

Amr bin al-Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Yazid bin Abi Habib told me that a man came to Madinah and said: "My wealth is coming on behind me." Hearing this, people gave him wealth as a loan, so his wealth grew large. He spent the wealth freely until all of it was gone. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding him that "he be sold." This is munqati' (broken chain).
