أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ الْعَبْدَوِيُّ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خَمِيرَوَيْهِ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ، ثنا صَالِحُ بْنُ رُسْتُمَ، ثنا شَيْخٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، أَوْ قَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: " سَيَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ عَضُوضٌ، يَعَضُّ الْمُوسِرُ عَلَى مَا فِي يَدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يُؤْمَرْ بِذَلِكَ، قَالَ اللهُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ {وَلَا تَنْسَوَا الْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْ} [البقرة: ٢٣٧]، وَتَنْهَدُ الْأَشْرَارُ، وَيُسْتَذَلُّ الْأَخْيَارُ، وَيُبَايِعُ الْمُضْطَرُّونَ، وَقَدْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمُضْطَرِّ، وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْغَرَرِ، وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُطْعَمَ ".
Salih bin Rustum said that a shaykh from Banu Tamim told us that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed us: "A biting time will come upon the people, when the well-off man will bite hard on what is in his hands, though he was not commanded to do so. Allah Almighty says: 'And do not forget graciousness between you' [Surah al-Baqarah: 237]."
