Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) a slave-girl from the khums. She sold her to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) for one thousand dirhams and made her service a condition. This reached Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman! Have you bought a slave-girl from your wife, and she has made her service a condition upon you? He said: Yes. Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not buy her, for two have a share in her.
(b) Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both): Do not approach her for intercourse while someone has a condition in her.
(c) Qasim bin Abd al-Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates in mursal form: That in which someone else also has a share is not your property.
