وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، أنا دَعْلَجُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ السِّجْزِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَا: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى صُبْرَةٍ مِنْ طَعَامٍ فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِيهَا فَنَالَتْ أَصَابِعُهُ بَلَلًا، فَقَالَ: " مَا هَذَا يَا صَاحِبَ الطَّعَامِ؟ " قَالَ: أَصَابَتْهُ السَّمَاءُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: " أَفَلَا جَعَلْتَهُ فَوْقَ الطَّعَامِ حَتَّى يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ، مَنْ غَشَّ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي "، رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a heap of grain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand into it, and his (peace and blessings be upon him) fingers felt wetness. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O owner of the grain! What is this?" He said: O Messenger of Allah! Rain fell on it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should have put it on top of the heap so that people could see it. Whoever cheats is not of me."
