Bayhaqi 10449 — The buyer and seller have the option as long

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever buys goods from someone, both of them have the option until they separate from their place, unless it is a sale with an option between them; and it is not lawful for anyone to part from his companion for fear that the sale will be cancelled." Cancelling the sale has been expressed by the word iqalah.
(b) Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I sold to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) property in the valley in exchange for his property at Khaybar. When we had concluded the sale, I turned back on my heels until I left his house, fearing that he might revoke the sale; and the practice was that as long as the buyer and the seller had not separated, they had the option to cancel the deal. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the sale between him and me was completed, I saw that I had (in a way) outwitted him, in that I had moved him three nights' journey towards the land of Thamud, while he had brought me three nights' journey closer to the land of Madinah.
