Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) designated a fine camel as a sacrificial offering (hady), and he was offered three hundred dinars for it. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I designated a fine camel as a sacrificial offering and I have been offered three hundred dinars for it. Shall I sell it and buy camels with its price?" The narrator is unsure whether the word used was «budn» (camels) or «badanah» (a camel). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather slaughter that very one."
