Hadith 2556

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَنْ سَلَّ عَلَيْنَا السِّلَاحَ، فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا".
Iyas bin Salamah narrated from his father, who said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever raises a weapon against us is not one of us."
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2555)
From this hadith, it is understood that it is not permissible for Muslims to raise or draw weapons against one another.
Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said: Whoever unjustly raises a weapon against a Muslim and does not consider it lawful is sinful, and whoever considers it lawful is a disbeliever (kafir). And this hadith applies to the one who considers it lawful, or it may also mean that such a person is not upon our way.
