أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ تِعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "نَهَى عَنْ صَبْرِ الدَّابَّةِ" . قَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ: لَوْ كَانَتْ دَجَاجَةً مَا صَبَرْتُهَا.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade tying up a living animal and then killing it. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Even if that animal is a chicken, I will not tie it up and kill it.

SubhanAllah! How admirable is the system of justice and mercy in Islam, that even causing pain to a mere animal and killing it has been prohibited, and those who act contrary to this are accursed in Islam.
That is, they are driven far from the mercy of Allah Ta'ala, and the wrath of Allah Ta'ala descends upon them.
