أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي طَاوُسٌ الْيَمَانِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ يُسْأَلُ عَنْ حَبْسِ النِّسَاءِ عَنْ الطَّوَافِ بِالْبَيْتِ إِذَا حِضْنَ قَبْلَ النَّفْرِ، وَقَدْ أَفَضْنَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ، فَقَالَ: "إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ كَانَتْ تَذْكُرُ رُخْصَةً لِلنِّسَاءِ" . وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ مَوْتِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بِعَامٍ.
Tawoos Yamani says that he heard from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he was asked about a menstruating woman who performed the Tawaf al-Ifadah on the days of sacrifice, but before departing she started menstruating and could not perform the Tawaf al-Wada'. What is the ruling? Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to mention a special concession for women. And this fatwa was given by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) one year before his death.
Brief Explanation

From this, it is understood that previously, he used to give the fatwa to women experiencing menstruation (hayd) or postnatal bleeding (nifas) to wait and, after performing the Farewell Circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada‘), to depart. However, when the correct ruling was learned from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha, he retracted his previous statement.
Subhan Allah! What an example of adherence and obedience this is. Even today, if there were the same spirit of obedience and faith in Allah and His Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, then all juristic (fiqhi) differences could be resolved.
