حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ، عَنْ جُنَادَةَ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "مَنْ مَشَى فِي ظُلْمَةِ لَيْلٍ إِلَى صَلَاةٍ، آتَاهُ اللَّهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ".
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever goes out in the darkness of the night with the intention of prayer, Allah Almighty will grant him light on the Day of Resurrection."

From this hadith, the virtue of going for prayer in the darkness of the night is established; for such a person, there will be nothing but light upon light on the Day of Resurrection.
