أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ: "رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي" . فَقِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ: تَقُولُ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: رُبَّمَا قُلْتُ، وَرُبَّمَا سَكَتُّ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say «رب اغفرلي» between the two prostrations. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: Do you also say this? He replied: Sometimes I say it, sometimes I remain silent.
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1360)
Saying «اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ» or «رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ» three times between the two prostrations, or saying «اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَارْحَمْنِيْ وَاهْدِنِيْ وَعَافِنِىْ وَارْزُقْنِيْ», is established from the ahadith.
