باب في الذي تَفُوتُهُ صَلاَةُ الْعَصْرِ:Chapter: Regarding missing the Asr prayer

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "مَنْ فَاتَتْهُ صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ، فَكَأَنَّمَا وُتِرَ أَهْلَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ" . قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد: أَوْ مَالَهُ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever misses the Asr prayer, it is as if his family and children have been killed (or looted). Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said «أو ماله» that in place of "children" there is «مال».
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 1263 to 1265)
That is, the person who does not perform the ‘Asr prayer, it is as if his family and children have been killed, and this would be an extremely frightening and distressing matter for a person. It is understood from this that the virtue of the ‘Asr prayer is so great that if it is missed even once, it is as if all his family, wealth, and possessions have perished. Therefore, no Muslim should be negligent or delay in this matter. May Allah Ta‘ala grant everyone the ability to perform the five daily prayers.
