Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1754 — people used to come from the place of Awali
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمِّي ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَهُ , عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّاسُ يَنْتَابُونَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ مِنْ مَنَازِلِهِمْ مِنَ الْعَوَالِي , فَيَأْتُونَ فِي الْعَبَاءِ , وَيُصِيبَهُمُ الْغُبَارُ وَالْعَرَقُ , فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمُ الرِّيحُ , فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْهُمْ وَهُوَ عِنْدِي , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ أَنَّكُمْ تَطَهَّرْتُمْ لِيَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا "
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that people used to come from the place of Awali to their homes for Jumu'ah. They would come wearing cloaks. (On the way) dust would settle on them and they would sweat, so their bodies would begin to emit an odor. Then one of those people came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was sitting with me. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you would perform ghusl (ritual bath) for this day of yours (Jumu'ah), it would be much better."
