Sahih Ibn Hibban 5270 — Permissible and Impermissible Foods
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الرَّيَّانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الطُّفَاوِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " رَخَّصَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ ، وَنَهَانَا عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الأَهْلِيَّةِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted us to eat the meat of horses, and he forbade us from eating the meat of domesticated donkeys.
