Sahih Ibn Hibban 5269 — Permissible and Impermissible Foods – Command
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الطُّفَاوِيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ ، وَنَهَانَا عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الأَهْلِيَّةِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to eat the meat of horses (i.e., permitted it), and he forbade us from eating the meat of domesticated donkeys.
