"أرسل ملك الموت إلى موسى فلما جاءه صكه ففقأ ¤ عينه فرجع إلى ربه فقال: أرسلتني إلى عبد لا يريد الموت فرد الله إليه عينه، وقال ارجع إليه وقل له: يضع يده على متن ثور فله بما غطت يده بكل شعرة سنة. قال: أي رب! ثم ماذا؟ قال: ثم الموت. قال: فالآن، فسأل الله أن يدنيه من الأرض المقدسة رمية بحجر فلو كنت ثم لأريتكم قبره إلى جانب الطريق تحت الكثيب الأحمر"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Angel of Death was sent to Musa (peace be upon him). When he came to him, he slapped him and knocked out his eye. He returned to his Lord and said: You sent me to a servant who does not want to die. Allah Almighty restored his eye and said: Go back to him and tell him to place his hand on the back of a bull, and for every hair that his hand covers he will be given one year of life. He asked: O my Lord, then what will happen? Allah said: Then death. He said: Then now (give me death). So he supplicated to Allah Almighty to bring him as close to the Holy Land (Bayt al-Maqdis) as the distance of a stone's throw. If I were there, I would certainly show you his grave beside the road, beneath the red sand dune."
