«أربع بقين في أمتي من أمر الجاهلية ليسوا بتاركيها: الفخر بالأحساب والطعن في الأنساب والاستسقاء بالنجوم والنياحة على الميت، وإن النائحة إذا لم تتب قبل الموت جاءت يوم القيامة عليها سربال من قطران ودرع من لهب النار»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Four things of the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah) have remained in my Ummah which people will not abandon: boasting about one's lineage, taunting the lineage of others, seeking rain from the stars, and wailing over the dead. And indeed, the wailing woman, if she does not repent before her death, will come on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of sulphur (tar) and a shirt of flames of fire."
