«إذا نودي بالصلاة أدبر الشيطان وله ضراط، حتى لا يسمع التأذين فإذا قضي النداء أقبل حتى إذا ثوب بالصلاة أدبر حتى إذا قضي التثويب أقبل حتى يخطر بين المرء ونفسه يقول: اذكر كذا واذكر كذا لما لم يكن يذكر حتى يظل الرجل لا يدري كم صلى»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When the call to prayer is made, Satan turns his back and flees, breaking wind, so that he does not hear the adhan. Then when the adhan is finished he comes back, until when the iqamah for the prayer is called he again turns his back and flees. And when the iqamah is finished he comes back again, until he comes between a person and his heart, casting whispers and saying: 'Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such,' that is, things he had not remembered before, until the person no longer knows how many rak'ahs he has prayed."
