«يدخل الملك على النطفة بعد ما تستقر في الرحم بأربعين ليلة فيقول: يا رب! ماذا؟ أشقى أم سعيد؟ أذكر أم أنثى؟ فيقول الله فيكتبان ويكتب عمله وأثره ومصيبته ورزقه وأجله ثم تطوى الصحيفة فلا يزاد على ما فيها ولا ينقص»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The angel comes to the drop of semen forty days after it settles in the womb and says: 'O Lord, what shall I write? Wretched or fortunate? Male or female?' Then Allah speaks, and the angels write it down, and his deeds, his end, his affliction, his provision and the time of his death are written. Then the scroll is rolled up, and nothing is added to what is in it nor taken away."
