«يخرج قوم من أمتي يقرءون القرآن ليس قراءتكم إلى قراءتهم بشيء ولا صلاتكم إلى صلاتهم بشيء ولا صيامكم إلى صيامهم بشيء يقرءون القرآن يحسبون أنه لهم وهو عليهم لا تجأوز صلاتهم تراقيهم يمرقون من الإسلام كما يمرق السهم من الرمية لويعلم الجيش الذين يصيبونهم ما قضى لهم على لسان نبيهم لاتكلوا عن العمل وآية ذلك أن فيهم رجلا له عضد ليس فيه ذراع على رأس عضده مثل حلمة الثدي عليه شعرات بيض»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people will emerge from my Ummah who will recite the Qur'an; your recitation will be nothing compared to their recitation, nor your prayer compared to their prayer, nor your fasting compared to their fasting. They will recite the Qur'an thinking that it is in their favour, whereas it will be against them. Their prayer will not go beyond their throats. They will pass out of Islam just as an arrow passes through the game. If the army that confronts them knew what reward has been decreed for them for killing them upon the tongue of their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they would rely on that and give up doing deeds. And the sign of this group is that among them will be a man who has an upper arm but no forearm; at the end of his upper arm there will be something like the nipple of a breast, with white hairs on it."
