"والله لله أشد فرحا بتوبة عبده من رجل كان في سفر في فلاة من الأرض فأوى إلى ظل شجرة فنام تحتها واستيقظ فلم يجد راحلته فأتى شرفا فصعد عليه فلم ير شيئا ثم أتى آخر فأشرف فلم ير شيئا فقال: أرجع إلى مكاني الذي كنت فيه فأكون فيه حتى أموت فذهب فإذ براحلته تجر خطامها فالله أشد فرحا بتوبة عبده من هذا براحلته"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"By Allah, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His servant than a man who is travelling in a desolate land; he takes shelter in the shade of a tree and falls asleep beneath it, then wakes up and does not find his mount. He climbs a high place but sees nothing, then climbs another high place and looks, but sees nothing. So he says: 'I will go back to the very place where I was and stay there until I die.' So he goes back, and suddenly there is his mount, dragging its halter. So Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His servant than this man was at finding his mount."
