"إذا فتحت عليكم فارس والروم أي قوم أنتم؟ ¤ - قيل: نكون كما أمر الله - قال: أو غير ذلك؟ تتنافسون ثم تتحاسدون ثم تتدابرون ثم تتباغضون ثم تنطلقون في مساكن المهاجرين فتجعلون بعضهم على رقاب بعض"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When Persia and Rome (their lands and treasures) are opened up to you, what kind of people will you be? It was said: We will remain as Allah has commanded us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Or otherwise? You will compete with one another (in greed for the world), then you will envy one another, then you will turn your backs on one another (cutting off relations), then you will hate one another, then you will go to the dwellings of the Muhajirun and set some of them over the necks of others."
