«مثل القائم على حدود الله والمدهن فيها كمثل قوم استهموا على سفينة في البحر فأصاب بعضهم أعلاها وأصاب بعضهم أسفلها فكان الذين في أسفلها إذا استقوا من الماء مروا على من فوقهم فقال الذين في أعلاها: لا ندعكم تصعدون فتؤذونا فقالوا: لوأنا خرقنا في نصيبنا خرقا ولم نؤذ من فوقنا فإن يتركوهم وما أرادوا هلكوا جميعا وإن أخذوا على أيديهم نجوا ونجوا جميعا»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The example of the one who upholds the limits of Allah and the one who is negligent concerning them is like that of people who cast lots for a ship at sea. Some of them got the upper part of the ship and some got the lower part. When those in the lower part wanted to get water, they would pass by those above them. So those in the upper part said: 'We will not let you come up and trouble us.' Those in the lower part said: 'What if we make a hole in our own part and do not trouble those above us?' So if those above leave them to what they intend, they will all perish, and if they hold them by their hands, they will be saved and all will be saved."
