«ليس المسكين الذي يطوف على الناس فترده اللقمة واللقمتان والتمرة والتمرتان ولكن المسكين الذي لا يجد غنى يغنيه ولا يفطن له فيتصدق عليه ولا يقوم فيسأل الناس»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The poor person (miskin) is not the one who goes around to people and is turned away with a morsel or two, or a date or two; rather, the poor person is the one who does not find enough wealth to make him self-sufficient, and no one notices him so that charity might be given to him, and he does not himself stand up and ask people."
