" لم يتكلم في المهد إلا ثلاثة: عيسى. وكان في بني إسرائيل رجل يقال له: جريج يصلي جاءته أمه فدعته فقال: أجيبها أو أصلي؟ فقالت: اللهم لا تمته حتى تريه وجوه المومسات وكان جريج في صومعة فتعرضت له امرأة فكلمته فأبى فأتت راعيا فأمكنته من نفسها فولدت غلاما فقالت: من جريج فأتوه فكسروا صومعته فأنزلوه وسبوه فتوضأ وصلى ثم أتى الغلام فقال: من أبوك يا غلام؟ قال: الراعي قالوا: نبني صومعتك من ذهب قال: لا إلا من طين. وكانت امرأة ترضع ابنا لها من بني إسرائيل فمر بها رجل راكب ذو شارة فقالت: اللهم اجعل ابني مثله فترك ثديها وأتى على الراكب فقال: اللهم لا تجعلني مثله ثم أقبل على ثديها يمصه ثم مرت بأمة فقالت: اللهم لا تجعل ابني مثل هذه فترك ثديها وقال اللهم اجعلني مثلها فقالت: لم ذاك؟ فقال: الراكب جبار من الجبابرة، وهذه الأمة يقولون سرقت زنت ولم تفعل"
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"None spoke in the cradle except three: Isa (peace be upon him). And among the Children of Israel there was a man called Jurayj. He was praying when his mother came and called him. He thought: 'Shall I answer her or continue praying?' So his mother said: 'O Allah, do not let him die until You show him the faces of prostitutes.' Jurayj was in a hermitage, and a woman tried to tempt him and spoke to him, but he refused. So she went to a shepherd and gave herself to him, and she gave birth to a boy and said: 'This is Jurayj's child.' The people came to him, broke down his hermitage, brought him down and reviled him. He performed ablution and prayed, then came to the child and asked: 'O boy, who is your father?' He said: 'The shepherd.' The people said: 'We will build your hermitage of gold.' He said: 'No, build it only of clay.' And a woman of the Children of Israel was nursing her son when a distinguished rider passed by her, and she said: 'O Allah, make my son like him.' The child left the breast, turned towards the rider and said: 'O Allah, do not make me like him.' Then he went back to nursing. Then a slave woman passed by, and the mother said: 'O Allah, do not make my son like her.' The child left the breast and said: 'O Allah, make me like her.' The mother asked: 'Why is that?' The child said: 'That rider was one of the tyrants, and as for this slave woman, people say she stole and committed adultery, yet she did none of that.'"
