«إذا حكم الحاكم فاجتهد فأصاب فله أجران وإذا حكم فاجتهد فأخطأ فله أجر واحد»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"When a ruler (or judge) exerts himself in reasoning (ijtihad) when judging and reaches the correct conclusion, he has a double reward; and if he exerts himself in reasoning when judging and errs, he has one reward (for his ijtihad)."
