«كان إذا بلغه عن الرجل شيء لم يقل: ما بال فلان يقول؟ ولكن يقول: ما بال أقوام يقولون كذا وكذا»
It was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
"When something reached him (peace and blessings be upon him) about a man, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would not say: 'What is the matter with so-and-so that he says such a thing?' Rather, he would say: 'What is the matter with people who say such and such?'"
