«صيام شهر رمضان بعشرة أشهر وصيام ستة أيام بعده بشهرين فذلك صيام السنة»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Fasting the month of Ramadan is equal to ten months of fasting, and fasting six days after it is equal to two months, so this becomes equal to fasting the whole year."
