«صوم يوم عرفة يكفر سنتين ماضية ومستقبلة وصوم عاشوراء يكفر سنة ماضية»
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of two years, the past and the coming, and fasting the day of Ashura expiates the sins of one past year."
