[رب صائم ليس له من صيامه إلا الجوع ورب قائم ليس له من قيامه إلا السهر]
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"It may be that a fasting person gains nothing from his fast except hunger, and it may be that one who stands (in prayer) at night gains nothing from his standing except wakefulness."
